Key Stage 3 students follow a programme according to the National Curriculum. Teachers liaise with mainstream schools to provide teaching in line with what a student’s class is covering. Students who have missed a significant amount of time or who are unable to access their mainstream curriculum will follow The Nightingale Centre’s own provision.
For key stage 3 students there is a focus on reading, writing and speaking and listening. Currently, in English, we are following a project based learning approach and during the autumn term the project is Habitats. There are strong cross-curricular links between our English provision and a newly introduced subject area of Culture and Society in our curriculum offer. Using this approach enables English skills including comprehension and composition to be embedded within a topic.
